According to his granddaughter's obituary, the patriarch was a Thomas Parrott who emigrated from Raleigh, North Carolina in 1819. No documentation has been found to date to corroborate this information. Census records are somewhat equivocal as to whether this family originated in Virginia or North Carolina. The only thing that is evident is that this family almost certainly belongs to one of the larger families in Virginia or North Carolina. Aslo, there is evidence that more family members were present in Dallas county than are currently accounted for, so additional research would be helpful. Absent additional paper evidence, only a Y-DNA test could help solve their origins.
